So last year I started listening to pod cast about photography so I decided to list and review the five podcast that I listen to the most.  So here it goes.

Peta Pixel Photography Podcast
It all started with a blog I read called Peta Pixel.  They started a Podcast and had Sharky James of the Lens Shark podcast as the host.  After reading their blog post on it, I decided to give it a try.  I really liked listening to photography news while I was working on images or doing other stuff around the house.  This podcast is great, Sharky has a great sense of humor and the show has a great flow.  This podcast is pretty gear centered and also covers interesting news stories involving photography and photographers.  It is a pretty short pod cast and usually last about 30 minutes.  They also have two episodes a week that usually come out on Sunday and Thursday.  Give it a listen if you get a chance.

The Candid Frame
This fantastic podcast is hosted by photographer Ibarionex Perello.  Ibarionex is a photographer and writer and has been in the photography industry for over 25 years.  This is by far my favorite podcast for photography.  Ibarionex does not spend much time on gear and technology instead he interviews different photographers about themselves and their motivations and their passion for photography.  One show may be with a street photographer then the next may be with a wedding photographer, followed by photojournalist the next week.  The interviews are great because Ibarionex has natural talent for conducting the interview in such conversational way that the photographer being interviewed feels at ease and the listener feels like they are part of the conversation.  The episodes last about an hour.  If you are interested in photography, you really should listen to this podcast.  Also, please check out Ibarionex’s website as there is some incredible photography there.

The Digital Photo Experience
This is another great podcast hosted some of the industries best photographers, Rick Sammon and Juan Pons.  These guys have a great chemistry and the flow of the show goes really well.  They discus a range of topics from travel photography and destinations, to new gear or special techniques for different situations as well as what is currently happening in the photography industry.

Street Focus
This podcast is hosted by Valerie Jardin and is another podcast that is based on interviews of photographers.  The difference is that the theme of the podcast is street photography.  It’s great to hear the photographers discuss their adventures on the street as well as their purpose and motivation for their work.  Many of them are working pros and take on street photography as a personal project.  It is a great pod cast and a great way to find new photographers.  I must also say the I love Valerie’s accent.

 Lens Work Podcast
Last but not least, is Brooks Jensen’s Lens Work Podcast.  I love these and they are fairly short, but the have a tendency to make you think about something well after the podcast is over.  They are usually only about 10 minutes long, but some times what is said can be the spark that ignites a fire of thought.  Brooks is a great guy and an amazing photographer.  I took his Lens Work Road Show workshops a few years ago and was amazed at the amount of information he presented.  I still refer to my notes from the workshops fairly often.  If you love looking at great photography that is printed beautifully, then you should also check out his magazine called Lens Work.
